Carol Jones
Carol Jones was a pioneering businesswoman and longtime Springfield leader whose vision and determination helped shape the region’s real estate industry. She moved to Springfield in 1963, earned her real estate license, and went on to build Jones & Company Realtors, later expanding into Carol Jones Realtors. Her company ultimately grew to seven offices, more than 400 agents, and billions in sales before her retirement in 2008.
Guided by her humble beginnings and a strong belief in helping others reach their potential, Jones became widely recognized not only for business success but for her commitment to lifting people through opportunity, mentorship, and education. Colleagues and community members often described her as someone who invested deeply in others and encouraged them to see what was possible in their own lives.
She also dedicated significant time and resources to philanthropy across the region, including support for the Carol Jones Recovery Center for Women and educational initiatives at Ozarks Technical Community College. Her leadership and generosity helped expand access to resources for women and students working to build stability and independence.
Impact
The Carol Jones Writing Center at Ozarks Tech reflects her belief in education as a pathway to confidence and opportunity. The center provides free writing support to students at every stage of the process, offering tutoring, study space, and guidance in brainstorming, drafting, and revising.
Her legacy at Ozarks Tech also includes the Carol Jones Memorial Scholarship, established to support a female student who is recovering from domestic or family violence situations. This scholarship reflects her deep commitment to helping women rebuild their lives, regain independence, and pursue education as a pathway to safety and long-term stability.
Through her broader philanthropic legacy, including scholarships and program support at Ozarks Tech and other Missouri institutions, Carol Jones helped expand access to education for students pursuing personal and professional growth. Her impact continues through programs that encourage persistence, strengthen communication skills, and open doors to long-term success.
