Ed and Darlene Haun
Edmund Haun grew up in the Ozarks, familiar with the kind financial hardship that many students encounter. With the unwavering support of his mother, he earned two undergraduate degrees and a master’s degree. In 2018, he and his wife, Darlene, created the Edmund and Darlene Haun Scholarship to pay it forward and provide opportunities for others seeking higher education, and to encourage the development of the area’s workforce. The Haun’s champion efforts to bring hardworking community members and their families out of poverty and homelessness. Not only do they want to extend opportunities for folks to provide for their families, but they recognize that there’s more at stake—the gift of dreaming bigger.
This scholarship is intended to support unemployed or underemployed, but diligent, individuals with children, who aspire to reach their full potential. Generously uplifting these scholarship recipients also serves to provide a sustainable and educated workforce to the Ozarks, attracting industries and more employment opportunities.
