Jim & Debby Baugh
Jim and Debby Baugh believe real heroism is found in the perseverance of students who pursue education despite significant challenges. Since retiring to Springfield in 2011, they have become active supporters of several philanthropic efforts, including their ongoing involvement with the Ozarks Tech Foundation.
Their connection to Ozarks Tech began after learning about the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program through a friend who served as an instructor. Jim, a retired public administrator, felt a strong personal connection to the mission, recognizing that his own educational journey was made possible by the support he received growing up.
“My folks had the means to send me to college,” Jim shared. “I ended up with a master’s degree, a good profession, and a leg up in the economy. Now Debby and I want to pay it forward to those who didn’t have the same opportunities.”
Together, Jim and Debby are guided by a shared belief that education is one of the most meaningful ways to create opportunity and change lives.
Impact
Since 2015, Jim and Debby Baugh have made a meaningful impact at Ozarks Tech through two key areas of support.
First, their scholarship fund helps cover the cost of the HiSET exam for graduates of the Adult Education and Literacy program. This support has helped hundreds of students earn their high school equivalency and take the next step toward further education and career advancement.
In addition, the Baughs are dedicated supporters of the Ozarks Tech Early Childhood Education Center Childcare Assistance Fund. Their generosity helps student parents afford high-quality childcare while they pursue their education. This support allows parents to remain focused on their academic goals while ensuring their children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment.
As Debby shared, “There are so many students trying to balance school and parenting. If we can ease that burden even a little and help them stay on their path, we’re honored to do it.”
Through their continued commitment to education, Jim and Debby are helping create brighter futures for students, their families, and the broader community.
