Roy W. Slusher Foundation

The Roy W. Slusher Foundation is the legacy of a man who combined extraordinary vision and leadership qualities with a genuine concern for human well being.

Though Mr. Slusher achieved considerable success in Texas oil production and downtown Denver real estate, he never forgot that others helped make his success possible. It was the wish of Mr. Slusher and his wife, Nora, that a major portion of their wealth be used to give others an opportunity to advance their capabilities. Mr. Slusher passed away in 1987.

Nora L. Slusher
Nora was born on October 14, 1915 in Danbury, Nebraska and raised on a farm. As a young woman Nora moved to Denver, CO to attend Business College, where she met young Denver businessman, Roy Slusher. That period was the beginning of a “storybook romance” in which no words of affection were spoken, yet each knew the heart of the other. It was well known by Nora’s friends that her 21 years of marriage to Roy was the happiest time of her life.

Mrs. Slusher chaired the Foundation board from its inception to the date of her death. Her thoughtful and courageous leadership encouraged the board to address many of the urgent social needs of the community.

Nora L. Slusher died in 2011 in Forsyth, Missouri. She was laid to rest next to her beloved late husband, Roy, in McCook, Nebraska.
